An open letter to the Republican Party:

It is time to abandon your affair with the cheap shot champion you have been courting for the last nine months. You must stop enabling the big mouth bully with your support and unite around a Godly man of character if you have any hope of winning the hearts and minds of the American people come Election Day.

If you nominate Donald Trump as the Republican candidate for President of the United States and lose the election, please don’t blame me and other conservatives who refused to vote for him. You will by your foolish nomination have sealed the outcome of the election in favor of the Democratic nominee.

Trump is a proud mocker and the Bible is crystal clear about what God thinks of such men and what will happen to them. When a man brandishes a Bible but lives an unrepentant, prideful life that mocks its teachings, God will oppose him.

The Lord “mocks proud mockers but shows favor to the humble and oppressed.” Proverbs 3:34

“God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” James 4:6; 1 Peter 5:5.

“Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.” Proverbs 16:18.

“Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.” Galatians 6:7.

Please nominate a man of honor, integrity, humility, restraint and sound judgment as the Republican candidate for President. I submit that John Kasich, Marco Rubio, Ben Carson and even Ted Cruz exhibit these traits to a much larger degree than Mr. Trump. Rally behind one of these men to portray the face of the Republican Party. Do not make “Republican” synonymous with “hate.”
